week #28 report from Fishspot land

Much like last week the fishing is outstanding in all our areas. It really is prime time and with the late summer we are not expecting the normal pause in fishing due to warm waters.

Much like last week the fishing is outstanding in all our areas. It really is prime time and with the late summer we are not expecting the normal pause in fishing due to warm waters. In fact we are predicting a consistent  and stable summer. Don’t get me wrong – it’s still Norway, and you will off course experience the normal wind, rain, heat and did i mention wind?

In Rena river they are experiencing good fishing, hatches of all sorts like Rhodani-, Auruwilii-, and even Danica May flies. Lately several species of caddies is hatching – even the big ones. If you visit Rena Fish Camp, make note that they have acquired a new river boat for comfortable guiding service.

In Selsvollene in Lågen river the yearly flood is late but finally on. However this has not turned off the insect life, nor the rises, as it can do during flood. However the fishing will be hard and we recommend maybe trying out the surrounding lakes if you are in the area. Follow the Lågen Flyfishing Facebook page for more updates.

In Trysil the fishing is still very good Danica may fly is still not on in any numbers but the caddis is. The water temperature was on the rise, and that can often cause trouble, but it’s back down again and we are predicting it will keep good for a while.

In Vangrøfta the fishing is OK, with some hatching but not consistent. Some fish have been caught but not in numbers. The auruvilli may fly is expected any time and that will certainly bring the big fish up. The river howev er is booked up for the next couple of weeks.

In Engerdal the fishing is at it’s prime with perfect conditions and still with nice temperatures in lakes and rivers. This is mostly outback fishing with a few acceptations like Isterfossen river, Sømåa river and Gløta River, so we really cant tell you where to fish. The pike fishing in Galten has been really good. Go explore – you wont regret it.

The only really bad news is the river fishing in the Folldal region. It had just turned on, only to be completely switched off by large amounts of melting water causing flood and cold murky waters. This usually comes back quick when the worst melting is over.

I’ll round up this report by making clear that this report based on the latest Intel and that we have no crystal ball, nor weather prediction skills. Try Yr.no for weather service. Other than that  – remember that there are thousands of lakes and smaller streams not mentioned in this report, but just as well worth a go.
