Great weather, good wind conditions and increased hatching of mayflies and midge. We have reports from several river systems and lakes. This is what is going on in Fishspot land.

Rivers
The Trysilelva river is coming to life with fish getting hooked on nymphs and drys. There are some hatching of the mayfly Baetis Rhodani, but the river is still high and cold, local guide Espen A Eilertsen reports. The popular Rena river have had better conditions the past days, with better water level, and several good hatching periods of the mayfly Baetis Rhodani. Fish are also being caught on midge. The fly fishing guides Martin Mikkelsen and Petter Berget have sendt us these pictures. Daytime is the key word. In Zone 5 and in Selsvollene in Gudbrandsdalslågen river the melting water from the mountains are making the fishing tough, but not impossible.

In Glomma river, in the area around Koppang to be more precise, flyfishing guide Edward Scholten reports of increased hatching activity and good fish rising. A full story on this tomorrow. Also in Glomma river, at Kvennan Flyfishing the water level now allows you to reach a number of good spots. River keeper and guide Hein Van Aar have not done any actual fishing himself, but can tell us that the river have come to life and that the grayling is rising.

Lakes and waters
Still under the treeline at 6-700 meters above sea level, the fishing have started. Both the mayfly Leptophlebia Vespertina and the midge are very active, something that should send eager fishermen marching up to higher ground. Both arctic char and trout are very active now. Without confirmed reports we are pretty sure that even at lakes up to 1000 meters above sea level, the ice have let go and midge are hatching. Run to the hills.  In a water system called Hodalsjøene, a series of lakes with interconnecting streams, fishing guide Marius Tollan have had a go, and did well with small streamers for both grayling and trout.
