The Fishcamp is considered by many anglers in Norway to be the mothership.

Rena Fishcamp is ideally located for your next fishing adventure to Rena River. The Fishcamp is considered by many anglers in Norway to be the mothership. Here you will find modern apartments with showers, refrigerators, and kitchens. You can also setup a tent, and enjoy the social life around the campfire or in the pub after a long day on the river.

The Fishcamp

Aside from our apartments we also run a fly shop, and plan to open the cafe and pub later in 2021. The fly shop is open from May 1st and offers a selction of locally tied flies, g-loomis, loon, scientific angler, and other products. We plan to continue the traditions from “fiskecamp” and arrange a variety of events throughout the season, arrange hosted trips to a variety of global destinations, and hold demo days with the newest and best gear on the market.

The fishing

Renaelva is one of Norways best and most beautiful rivers for trout and grayling fishing. It is known for its idealic slow steady flow, and its subtleties. In the slower flowing sections you will find pike and big whitefish, and throughout the river you will find trout and grayling rising side by side during the prolific hatches that Rena is known for. The river can be challenging, but there are many areas where wading and casting is easier. Rena has a very healthy population of grayling, with an average size of around 1 kg. Trout weighing over 5 kg are caught each year, and trout between 0.8 to 2 kg are very common.

Guiding

Renaelva is large, and daunting for many fishing there for their first time. If you have limited time we strongly recommend a guided day, so you can get to know the best fishing spots and the right techniques. Your later experiences on the river will be better once you’ve learned the ins and outs, of Rena. We are several guides that offer trips either in a drift boat, or walking and wading on the river banks. Contact John Bond and Rena Fishcamp!

Drift Fishing

Guided drift trips and boat rentals. We offer guided drift trips as well as boat rentals. This allows you a unique opportunity to see the entire river, as well as access to otherwise inaccessible fishing spots. With a specially designed drift boat we will guide you on the hunt for an excellent fishing experience to all of the hard to reach destinations on Rena.

With a wealth of local knowledge and years of experience, our guides know each rock and eddie where fish are holding, and will allow you to experience the entire river in a day. We do the rowing, so all you need to focus on is putting your fly in the right spot.

We offer a variety of boats for rental. Our large driftboat has room for 3 anglers plus a guide/rower, where two can fish at the same time while the third enjoys the view (or handles the netting). We also have a raft setup to allow 3 anglers to fish at the same time, as well as 6 watermaster rafts for 1 person.

About us

John and Silje Bond moved to Deset from Livingston Montana, just outside of Yellowstone National Park along the banks of the Yellowstone river. Silje, John, and their two little girls made the big decision to move to Norway when the opportunity arose to buy Rena Fiskecamp, which allowed them to move closer to Silje’s family. They had mixed feelings about leaving such an incredible place as Montana, but the timing was right and it was an opportunity they just couldn’t pass up on. They are both very happy to make Deset and Rena Fish Camp their new home, and look forward to getting to know the locals and everyone else who find their way to fish the beautiful Rena River.
