Tight with Fishpot- Week 32

New reports, and a quick round trip in fishspot. In some places there are still waiting lists for fishing licenses…

Jon-Erlend S Rena

In “Tight with Fishspot Week 32” we offer the newest reports from areas such as Rena, Gjerfloen, Engerdal og Kvennan. Follow us on a quick round trip through some of the more well known areas in Fishshpot. We’ll start in Rena, where Jon-Erlend Sundnes recounts the weekend. He sums up the weeks fishing here as follows:
“Super variable conditions in Rena this weekend. There were good hatches of baetis later in the evenings, but unfortunately there was too much rain for the larvae. We found some large trout up on the surface into the dark even though there weren’t t too many insects on the water. The fishing during the daytime was pretty slow, but fish were rising in certain types of water in specific areas. I lost a nice trout, and missed another take in the darkness”
As pictured Jon Erlend did end up landing some fish over the weekend.

Jon-Erlend spent the weekend in a tent along the banks of Rena over the weekend. Here the breakfast is being made before a long day of fishing.

For those who don’t want to sleep in a tent along the river bank and make their own food there is always the cozier option of staying Rena Fiskecamp.  Here you can rent out rooms, and they also have a café, bar, and fly shop. The opening hours through August are as follows:

Friday 15.00-21.00, Saturday 12.00-16.00 and 19.00-24.00, Sunday 12.00-18.00.

Gjerfloen Fluefiske in Trysil reports challenging conditions. Rain and rising water levels and make the fishing  a bit trickier, but some fisherman tackle these types of situations. Andrew Barton from the USA managed to land 6 grayling over 40 cm on Monday and Tuesday.

gjerfloen 2a

he winning fly in Trysil has been a grey and black “super pupa”, this has accounted for most of the fish caught at Gjerfloen fluefiske.

Jonas 5

Earlier this summer, guest Jonas Nordigårds from Edge Flyfishing in Engerdal and Galten Gård.  Together with his travel partner they decided to test their luck on Pike in Galtsjøen and fish in some other prime rivers and lakes in Engerdal.

Jonas 1

Galtsjøen didn’t disappoint when it came to pike fishing.

Jonas 3

Engerdal offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities throughout its 900 lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. Here you can see a nice trout taken in one of the many ponds in Engerdal.

In other lakes here there are plenty of arctic char to be found.

And here is some of the running water Engerdal has to offer.

KFF 1a

Last week this area was victim to a relatively cold weather system that moved through that came with a good deal of rain, and it made the fishing conditions a little bit more unstable than usual. The conditions have also been variable at Kvennan Fly Fishing in Glomma.  But at the same time the fishing hasn’t been completely hopeless, and fishing with small striped mayflies and Bibios has given good results.

Here we see the famous Bibio, or heather fly. The forecast calls for warmer and drier weather over the coming week, and that should make for much more stable fishing conditions.

Aursunden 1

Fishspot’s ambassador Bjørnar Hansen has been all over the area with a camera in tow. Following is a series of photos that give a glimpse of both the well known and lesser known areas in Fishspot. At the top we see the high elevation Aursunden. This lake can offer very exciting opportunities for a good variety of sportsfihing.

Aursunden 2

Aursunden has many shallower areas, with many islands, points, and bays.

Here there is a waiting list to get your hands on a fishing license.

Glomma Galåen

A little bit further south we find the upper regions of the Glomma at Galåen.  This is also a great area for a wide variety of fishing opportunities.

Glomma hos Os og Erlia

Down stream from Galåen we find Glomma with Os and Erlien Fiskeforening.  Her the Glomma is very unique, with many riffles, runs, and slower moving sections. Grayling and Trout are the dominant species here.

Nøra

A tributary to the Glomma in this area is the river Nøra. The Nøra can be fished with the same license as Glomma Os and Erlien.

Hodalssjøene

Travelling eastward from Tolga you will find the water system Hodalssjøene.  Hodalssjøene consists of several connected lakes, and between these lake there are several exciting streams and currents that offer very good fishing.

Hola og Kinna

Between Hodalssjøene and Langsjøen you will find the river Hola.  Hola is known to be a great river for grayling, but you will also find trout, whitefish, perch and pike.  Hola also has a fly fishing only fishing only section.

Langsjøen og Kinna

Hola drains into Langsjøen.  Aside from the good fishing here, Langsjøen is surrounded by unique mountain scenery. Here we see the mountain Sålekinna in the background.

Fisker Langsjøen

Here we see an angler fly fishing from a boat in Langsjøen.

Fiskeender-Langsjøen

Here we see othere anglers taking a break in Langsjøen.

Sømåa-Engerdal

Running out of Langsjøen is the river Sømåa.  Sømåa is a well known river in fly fishing circles, and is most well known as a great grayling stream. Sømåa lies in Engerdal kommune and is a part of the fishing license for most of the commune.

Nordre-Rena

Here we hop over to the neighboring Kommune Rendalen. Here is a photo from North Renaelva.

Rendalen Elvelag

A little further down in Rendalen we find Unsetåa.
