In the Glomma river at Stor-Elvdal municipality, the fishing conditions in the Glomma are ‘top notch’ as we speak. Low water levels and good temperatures causes a lot of insects to hatch. The advantage of this is that a wider range of dry flies can be presented. Beside the small brown mayfly imitations it is also possible to use ants, small olive colored mayflies and f-fly patterns in different colors.

Many fly fishermen tried their luck last weekend and many of them were very happy with the results in the Glomma in Stor-Elvdal North and South for Sundfloen bridge. Not only the numbers of fish were good, we also received reports of several large fish up to a 52 cm grayling.
Fishing licenses can be bought at Koppang Camping & Cabins which is situated at the borders of the Glomma. Here you will also get some good last minute info about the conditions.

In Trysil river the hatching is really kicking off.  Fly fishing guide Chris Hendriks tells us of big caddis hatches. The fish are a little slow yet, but we are confident they will follow the now hatching caddis by the end of the week.

In Kvennan Fly fishing river keeper Hein Van Aar reports this: The water-level is very low for this time of the year. In fact, I haven’t seen it so low. It makes wading really easy, and all good fishing spots can be reached. Insects that are hatching: stone flies, both larger grey ones #10, needle flies #18, midges in all sizes, a few Baetis may fly species, a few caddis in different sizes and some alder flies (looking like a caddis, but different species I’ve been told …)
The weather conditions are good for fly fishing, not to much wind, a bit of sun and some rain. During rainy periods there are Baetis hatches, look for them in the riffles.

Today I place a video I shot yesterday, it shows 2 fisherman and rising grayling. I filmed it from Telneset bridge,  and it gives a idea of the fishing conditions right now.
This video was filmed in 4K, and I edited it into full HD – if your internet connection is fast enough, click on “HD” and choose 1080. Enjoy.
