Well renowned as a nirvana for winter sports, the Trysil area can offer a lot more than steep hills and afterski benders. Trysil is a fishing destination, that offers an array of opportunities. Here you can fish in rich mountainous waters and streams for trout and arctic char. However, for most people it is the Trysil river that draws the most attention, and the outstanding grayling fishing in particular. With almost 10 miles of varied water, from Engerdal in the north to the swedish border in the south, you are bound to find a stretch that suites your preference of river and style of fishing. Regardless of what type of fishing you practise the river has something for everyone. Trout and grayling in fast water, or pike, whitefish and perch in the still flowing sections.

You will also find sections with adapted rules, such as the flyfishing zone on Gjerfloen, or the exclusive fishing in Vestsjøberget, but these places aside the rest of the river is accessible for everyone and with whatever style of fishing they may prefer. The season is long with a river that people fish from early spring to late autumn. For many the season tightly follows the different insect hatches that unfolds over the season.

The landowners and the fish and game association do a formidable effort to govern and cultivate the resources. This means adding local juvenile fish in waters with challenging conditions for self reproducing, or netting out fish in overpopulated waters, repairing or improving biotopes, adding chalk to sour waters, water sampling and surveillance of the environment and testfising. All this to keep the nature in balance and to make your fishing experience better – for both children and adults.    Tørbergsjøen2
