Like a journey into Norwegian rural life in the 1600’s, maybe by horse and carriage with the grand nature of the Rondana National park as backdrop, you will find Kvebergsøya. A destination with fantastic mountainous nature and timeless surroundings.

The Kvebergsøya farm has roots back to the 1600’s and the buildings are old but restored with modern facilities. You will feel like in a time capsule from your grandmothers days. The farm is placed in tranquil surroundings with the forest, mountains and fishing opportunities in close proximity.  After a long day of fishing you can enjoy local specialists.

Activities
Like mentioned before, with the feeling of having gone back in time, you can enjoy several activities. There are trips with horse and carriage going deep into the Rondana National park, visiting old mountain farm houses, in truly stunning surroundings with jagged peaks as the back drop.  There are good possibilities for observations of wild animals like moose, fox, beaver, deer, eagle and other rare birds. In general a photographers dream.

The guests
Kvebergsøya have something for everyone, that being the keen fly-fisherman or a family with children. There are activities, farm animals and cultural hiking tracks for the family. There is also very good fishing options in smaller waters with marked trails, well suited for a family, in lakes like Kroktjønn or Grimsbutjønnan (plural). The more hard core fly fishing angler can enjoy the days in legendary Grimsa river, and then relax in the lazy afternoons on the farm.

The fishing
The area offers numerous options. The most popular for keen sports fishing guests is river Grimsa, with it’s nice varied flow, and good stock of trout and grayling. Grimsa fly-fishing zone is a 18 km stretch of the Grimsa and Folla river, set aside for flyfishing only. There is only ten tickets on offer every day on this part of the river. The river varies between fast rapids and nice calm sections and the river is easily accessible. In the article “Lifting the veil on river Grimsa” local river keeper Bjørnar Hansen describes this gem of a river and its secrets.

At the Folldal Fjellstyre area there are over 20 waters and 30 kilometers of river with trout, grayling and arctic char. Folldal have stunning nature and truly wild surroundings with the majestic Rondane park as your neighbor.
