The Grimsa road trip

Imagine you have the best fishing, teeming with insect life, with big trout and record size grayling right outside your home. Why would you go anywhere else? Lars and Petter from the Rena Fishcamp along the Rena river, went out of bounds and visited the Grimsa river.

With plenty of insects to feed on the Grimsa trout trives, but the river can not sport the diversity of insects that the Rena river offers. But the the super clear Grimsa river have som other qualities that for sure will heighten your experience. And this is why the Rena-boys where after, not to mention the moody Grimsa trout.

With heavy winds, rain and overcast, the conditions where not the best. In good spirit the guys had their gear rigged up and where ready to hit the river. That was until Lars had forgotten his fly box at home. Good thing he has good friend with full boxes.

The hatching was just sporadic and the rises few. However we did fint plenty og caddis and spinners in the bushes on the bank. The evening might have something in stall for us.

Under conditions like this it is a significant advantage to have good knowledge about the river and where the fish hide out. And like this. with a local man at the helm – they found both rising fish and hatching insects. But caching them would prove to be a different story. An array of flies was considered by the fish, and they where almost all refused. And the few that did take where given a miss as the eager fishermen seemed to strike to quickly. But fish they did catch fish.
