If that is the case, you might be missing out on some good autumn fishing, according to Fishspot ambassador Jon Erlend Sundnes. There are still some good fishing left in clean crisp air and there is also the prestigious “Harr-O-Rama” fishing contest this weekend.

Even though the days are getting short you can still be in for some good fishing this week – even dry fly fishing. The river have yielded a few small mayflies and small stoneflies in good numbers. Selective grayling feeding on stoneflies is very exciting fishing. The days are short as mentioned, and the activity does not start until 13.00. When the dark comes in the afternoon , the fishing is done. The river is crisp with no other fishermen around.

The name of the fishing contest translates “people who can’t stop fishing for grayling even though it’s almost winter”. It is a very casual but at the same time blood serious for many of the contestants. The most eager of the eager battle it out to see who can catch the biggest number and size of grayling, and crown themselves King of Grayling. For many, the contest gravitates around the campfire with BBQ and good beverages, while others are taking the contest serious to the point where sabotage have been known to occur. Some have even practised before the challenging weekend. Log on to Rena Fishcamp and register to the event.
