Fresh from Fishspot week 35

Autumn is around the corner and that can be noticed already. Cool nights and morning dew are definite signs that things are changing. This is good regarding the fishing, especially after grayling.

Autumn is around the corner and that can be noticed already. Cool nights and morning dew are definite signs that things are changing. This is good regarding the fishing, especially after grayling.

In Koppang and the Glomma river, cool nights but warm days make that many insects are very active and graylings starts te get more eager to take your flies.
Water levels in the Glomma are near perfect and wading between the island ‘koppangs Øyene’ is very attractive to do. Below some pictures of last week’s guiding trips with local fishing guide Edward Scholten. Guiding and fishing licenses are available through Koppang Camping or here on Fishspot.

In Kvennan Fly Fishing river keeper Hein Van Aar, have this report: The water level is back to normal again, the water is clear and the fishing can be good. During the afternoons there can be some rising fish, but there should be a bit of sun to brighten up the day and the mood of the fish… I think what works best right now are Griffith Gnat, Zebra and Dynamite Harry dry fly patterns in small sizes – #16 – #18. The problem is of course the size of these flies, they are very small and difficult to see when the light conditions are not perfect. To make it even more interesting, the grayling are taking these flies very carefully now, hardly showing themselves, often only leaving a bubble. So, quite good dry fly fishing but not very easy .

A group of fly fishermen have spent som days in Vangrøfta and Glomma together with fishing guide  Jean Philippe Pontier and they delivered these pictures.
