Finally fall again!
Clear rivers, big fish near the banks, and few anglers to be seen. This time of year when many have packed away their fly rods for the season is the time we get the most excited for.

There are many fine fishing destinations awaiting. For those of us who love fishing in the fall there is a plethora of options to choose between. The big rivers Rena, Glomma, Gudbrandsdalslågen and Trysilelva are an obvious choice. Grayling fishing is typically at the peak during the fall months, and big trout come in close to the banks during the evenings. Rena can deliver the fish of dreams for those who are willing to get out at night.
Glomma and Kvennan Fly Fishing is an excellent choice for those who simply want to catch fish. You will find excellet dry fly fishing here until late october. Grayling over 50 cm are consistently caught at Kvennan, as well as large caliber trout.
Grayling are caught on both wet and dry flies, and trout will even rise to a dry fly, but check the fishing regulations: several watersheds don’t allow anglers to target trout during the fall months even though grayling fishing is allowed.
At Sel in zone 5 on Gudbrandsdalslågen you can fish year round. This includes the 5 km long fly fishing only zone, with the exception of a 150 meter stretch which is closed from september 15th to november 1st.
Unsetåa, Hola, Vangrøfta and Grimsa can also offer great fishing during the fall. Each of these streams are home to grayling, with the exception of Vangrøfta above the falls.
And don’t overlook the big trout river Tokkeåi. With a bit of luck and the right conditions you can hook into the fish of your lifetime. Tokkeåi is open for fishing through the 20th of september.
Last but not least we would recommend a proper mountain trip if the temperatures are warm enough. Sjåk, Tydalsfjellene and Snåsa minst vil vi anbefale en skikkelig fjelltur så lenge temperaturene er sommerlige. Skjåk, Tydalsfjellene and Snåsa all offer great fishing during the fall months.
On Femunden you can also find great grayling fishing late into the fall. During a warm spell in september you can definitely fish with bibio, mosquitoes, and daddy long legs on the menu.
