There are nearly unlimited variations and possibilities for fishing in Selbu. With over 300 waters if various size, Selbu is one of the greater fishing destinations in Trønderlag county. It offers fishing in vast places like the Selbusjøen lake, down to small mountain waters and forest lakes in the lowlands. Not to mention fishing for the Nea river, a lake that holds fish as big as the cuss words uttered by visiting fishermen.

In the Selbu areas well over 300 lakes scattered over the municipality vast outback, you can find species such as trout and arctic char. Some watres hold fish of good size and some holds high numbers of fish of smaller size. With this many hidden gems to choose between, you are bound to find your own personal hidden fishing oasis.

The Selbusjøen lake shore is made up of bays and points and a good habitat that offers an array of attractive fishing spots. The lake holds species such as trout, arctic char and burbot. Lately the northern pike is has become one of the most popular species target by fishermen. Pike over the 1 meter benchmark is not unusual.

The best known destination here is the Nea river. Whether you are spin- or fly fishing, the river holds a good population of trout, sometimes really big fish too. Many claims this is one of the better rivers in Europe. Whether that is true or not you will have to determine yourself.

The Selbu Utmarksråd, is the umbrella organisation for all the landowners in the Selbu region, and they offer one common licence that covers almost all the waters in the area. Fot those who wants tho fish the Nea river, this is a separate licence. This license covers the Nea river from the municipality border between Selbu and Tydal and down to the Nea river estuary.
