Merry Christmas and happy New Year from Fishspot

While we are getting ready for Christmas it is easy to forget the important things in life. No, we are not talking about turkey dinner or Christmas decorations (all though we will touch on that later), we are of course talking about next years fishing opportunities.

While we are getting ready for Christmas it is easy to forget the important things in life. No, we are not talking about turkey dinner, family or Christmas decorations (all though we will touch on that later), we are of course talking about next years fishing opportunities.

Sure you can suck on the caramels of the season behind you, but the curse of the fishing obsession will with out a doubt have you dreaming about the next fish. Who knows what the next trip to Norway have in stall for you? Humming insects and rising fish. Coffee at the bank with a new companion. Maybe he knows of a secret lake…

In the coming year Fishpot will be sharing new areas and new opportunities. But there is no need to worry about your special place to be run down by others. We who work in Fishspot know how the mind of the avid fisherman works. And we know better than to expose vulnerable creeks or small waters. It´s what fishing is really about  – especially in Norway. To go hiking on an adventure, to explore an area to find that special creek or water no one has seen for years. It is really not that hard. In a municipality like Engerdal there are over 800 waters.  Do you think they get fished every year?

However we do realise that setting off into the Norwegian wilderness is not for all. Not just because many people do not have the experience required to do it, but many are also on a tight time frame. If this is the case, we do recommend staying at a lodge, or in a cabin near by fishable waters. We are also recommending trying out guided fishing, or a ready-to-go package deal. We will get back to the latter soon.

Decoration tips
For those who suffer from the lack of fishing in the Christmas holiday, our editor have a special decoration tip for you. All you need is a couple of your best fly or lure boxes at hand, and then sprinkle them over the Christmas tree. For those who indulge in fly tying, a final touch can be made with some flash or ice-dubbing. Merry Christmas and happy New Year from Fishspot!
