Borgundselva is a crystal clear river running through the lush western landscape of Norway. Surrounded by breathtaking mountains, historic landscape,  and unique cultural destinations. When standing on the banks of Borgundselva you will quickly understand why it is so famed. This beautiful river is the upper section of the famous salmon river Lærdalselva.

The two rivers are separated by a series of waterfalls, so while Lærdalselva is famed for the salmon that run through it every summer, Borgundselva is home to large resident trout.

This beautiful river is located in Lærdal County in Sogn og Fjordane. The river runs through green,  landscapes with high mountains. The upper part of the river has a strong current with interesting pools and waterfalls. Down towards Borgundsfjorden it calms down and flows quietly.

There is a lot of big trout in this crystal clear water, and it is important to take good care of it. There are also quite a lot of small trout in this river as well. There are new regulations put in place to protect the trout stock in Borgund River. This will shortly result in a very interesting destination for sport fishermen.
