Weekend fishing report from Rena river

Typical for Rena river, the hatches can be very local and after some phone calls we managed to find both rising trout and grayling.

With a good water level, and reports on hatching baetis may flies, I chose to spend my weekend in Rena river. With spars hatching in daytime, it was too cold for evening fishing – at least for dry. With a bit of a celebration of a local hero Saturday night we decided to go for the resident pike in Rena Fishing Camp. This resulted in three small pike.

Sunday was spent searching for hatching insects. Typical for Rena river, the hatches can be very local and after some phone calls we managed to find both rising trout and grayling. We herd rumors of big fish and we had contact with one of them. Sunday was spent sitting on our asses waiting waiting for rising fish but it it never really happened.

First grayling of the season for me

With 4 degrees on the water the fishing is still slow, but under the right conditions and with a bit of searching there is the odd chance of rising fish. The baetis rhodani (may fly) hatching just starting i think the fishing will really come together in 2-3 weeks

See you on the river
