Massive trout in Rena river

It's not the first time Norwegian fisherman Inge Rønning gets in touch with the bigger fish on the Rena river, but he does admit that he had never had quite a season opener quite like this. Just a few hours into the fishing, already having landed a 1,6 kg trout, a massive trout of 7,7 kilos was in the net.

The Rena river has its season opening day the 1st of May, and as always, Inge was on the bank with his spin rod and Rapala set-up. He ad already landed a 1,6 kilo trout, but the day had just begun.

– It’s still early, and the fish was not that strong yet, but it was incredible heavy heavy, so it did take me quite a long time to land. This is the deepest and thickest trout i have ever seen, so with its broadside to the current it was quite heavy. It ended in the net anyway, Inge Rønning tell us. (Statement to Hooked magazine)

The 83 cm long trout with a weight of 7,7 kilos gives it a K-factor of 1,4 – something that speaks volumes about the access of baitfish in the river.  The fish was gently put back in the river as Inge Rønning, like many others, are firm believers in protecting fish like this as they are crucial  to reproduction. The fish was caught on a 360GT Searchbait.
