Alvdal is an area with rich fishing and nature. With a good number of rivers, creeks and and lakes, the variation of fishing options is huge. In addition to the mighty Glomma river, the combination of hiking and fishing in the mountains, will lead you to some outstanding fishing in beautiful cultural landscape.

There is one fishing license that covers most areas in the Alvdal municipality. Five areas are covered by this license, this includes:

Glomma and Folla: The rivers Glomma and Folla, inside the Alvdal municipality, and also the Sølna river thar runs down stream of the Sølndammen lake. The rivers are easy accessible from the valley and offers miles of fishing for both trout and grayling.

Sølndalen (valley):  The rivers Sølna, Veslsølna and Kvislåa can be found here, and also the four lakes Sølnsjøen, Breidsjøen, Strålsjøen and Holmsjøen.  The area holds both trout and arctic char. The rivers are good for kanoting. Several of the lakes are easily accessible and are good for families with children.

Aumdalen and its surrounding area: The license covers Auma river with all the surrounding creeks, ponds and lakes. Kvislåtjønna (pond/small lake), Storbekken (creek), Stortjønna (lakes).  If you like the hike and the solitude and quaint nature, this is a good area.

Kvebergstjønna (lakes):  Kvebergstjønna have a very good population of trout, are family friendly and accessible.

Strålsjøen (lake):  Strålsjøen are idyllically situated near to Savalen with both trout and arctic char.

 

Sandli
On your journey in Alvdal there are several options for spending the night or having a meal. One of these places is Sandli. This is the perfect place to be for people on the move between fishing areas, or even to use as a basecamp if you prefer the comforts of Sandli. Here hikers and fisherman of all sorts have been frequent visitors over more than 50 years. the place is well know for its hospitality ans good service.

Langodden farm house
The rivers Glomma and Folla, are all inside the Alvdal municipality, and also the Sølna river that runs down stream of the Sølndammen lake. The rivers are easy accessible from the valley and offers miles of fishing for both trout and grayling. If you are fishing any of these areas spending a night or two at Langodden Farm house is a good choice. The farm offers accommodation in cabins or at the camping site in tents and caravans. The place is on a farm with all the atmosphere that brings with it, and proper Østardalen valley traditions, close proximity to hiking trails and nature.

Gjelten Bru Camping
If you want real peace and relaxation and still have the comforts of a solid home between fishing sessions, Gjelten Bridge Camping is a very good option. The sheltered camping site in Alvdal municipality offers a calm and atmospheric stay, for you and your family. The family camping site have 13 cabins, and well facilitated camping options. They have both small and simple cabins, limited for summer use, and big vinter insulated cabins. The camping site have 45 sites with electricity connection spread through out the camping site.
