The River Nea in Selbu offers top notch trout fishing, and is considered by many to be one of the best trout streams in Europe. Come experience the exciting and easily accessible fishing for truly large trout in the beautiful nature of Trondelag!

The River Nea starts its journey in Sylan in Tydal, and runs into lake Selbusjøen in Selbu. Nea is well known among the sport fishing community for its solid trout population, and maybe even more well known it’s very large fish. Trout over 2 kilos are not at all uncommon, but if your lucky you will come into contact with trout several times this size. The flow of Nea varies widely, and it offers a wide variety of fishing spots. Between the many slow flowing sections, man made stone thresholds, deep runs, tail outs, and bends, you are guaranteed to find a spot to match your preferred method of fishing!

Along the entire river system there has been much work put into accessibility with a focus on angling. Along with the easy access you will find plenty of parking and marked trails. You will also find several shelters along the river, perfect for a quick lunch break or for getting out of the elements.

The Selbu Outdoor Association manages much of the fishing in Selbu in cooperation with landowners. They offer a common license, which allows affordable fishing in the majority of lakes and rivers in Selbu. However, if you wish to fish areas not included in the Selbu Kommune common license there are licenses available through individual landowners.
