Storøya - Summer Farm House in Forollhogna National Park

Storøya consists of two summer farmhouses from 1874 with a rich history, which are available for rent right next to Forollhogna National Park. The houses are located on a summer farm in the Londalen Valley in Vingelen. This is a peaceful setting surrounded by mountains, wildlife, and beautiful nature.

The houses are located on a summer farm in the Londalen Valley in Vingelen. This is a peaceful setting surrounded by mountains, wildlife, and beautiful nature.

The Storøya farm (Storøyvollen) was used in the late summer and fall from 1874 to 1949. Consisting of two farmhouses placed near to each other on the farm, right next to Forollhogna National Park. With this as your base camp you will be able to soak in the magic of the mountains, surrounded by a unique flora and fauna, and stay in a house with a long history and special charm. You are also able to bring your own horse during your stay.

The first farmhouse (the cabin) was originally a spring farm building from the 1600’s, which was moved here and use as a hunting cabin around the year 1900. This cabin has 6 beds.

The second house (the farm house) is also an older building, which was moved here before the farm began operation in 1874. Here you will also find a total of 6 beds between two rooms. The only thing you will need to bring is your sleeping bag, wood for the stove, paraffin, propane, and other essentials are provided with the house.

There is a road leading all the way in to the cabins. Roughly 100 m before you reach the cabin you will find a shallow river that must be crossed by either wading or driving through with your car. Just be careful, because the water flows can vary throughout the season.

Both houses are available for rent from the end of June through October.

The mountain area surrounding Storøya is located within a protected area and borders Forollhogna National Park, which is only a few hundred meters away. There are plenty of outdoor opportunities here, including hiking, fishing in mountain lakes, and satisfying your interest in geology and cultural history.

The beauty of Forollhogna can be experienced her from the spring through the fall, and you will wake to bird songs right outside the walls. It is also possible to visit an active summer farm, which is open every day throughout July in neighboring Vingelen.

Location

Vingelen is located on FV 30 between Tynset and Røros, in the Tolga Municipality. More detailed directions will be given upon rental when you pick up the keys to the house.
