Off the beaten path in Fishspot Country

Want to head off and explore? Maybe find your own secret fishspot? Follow these tips to find areas with exciting and varied fishing and low fishing pressure.

The first area we are excited to talk about is just a bit north of what is probably the hottest river for big trout and grayling on dry flies right now, namely Southern Rena, the tailwater from the lake Storsjøen. Let’s see what enters the lake instead:

Northern Rena River Fly Fishing

There is lots of space on the Northern Rena Fly Fishing zone.

Fishing in the Northern Rena River is challenging, but if you crack the code there is trophy grayling and browut extremely rewarding. The reward comes in the form of trophy trout and grayling on an easily accessible and lightly fished fly fishing zone, approximately 4,7 km long.

Lake ­Run ­Trout ­in ­Mistra

For some weird reason Mistra is more popular among those who fish with lures than fly anglers. More fly anglers should tie on a huge jointed streamer like Drunk’n Disorderly and try their chances on the huge migratory browns heading up Mistra from Storsjøen to spawn, every year like clockwork. Getting to know the river will take time and you won’t catch a lot of fish. Those you catch however …
