Beautiful trout from Grimsa

The two beautiful mountain rivers are vastly different, but they have two things in common: the number of fishing permits is limited and  sales have just opened.

Grimsa and Brya, both tributaries to the great river Glomma. Both unique small-medium rivers. Grimsa is the clearest and holds trout and grayling of solid size. Neither of them are easy to catch. Brya is also clear, but perhaps with a slight veil.

The trout in Brya migrates up from Finstadsjøen when it feels like it. It can be triggered by water flow, temperature, nutrient availability or spawning drive. Or a combination of some or all of them. You have to be there to know what's happening.

Brya is a beautiful river where the trout moves quite a lot to and from Finstadsjøen.

The river can seem empty one day, while the next day you find one beautiful trout after another in the many meandering bends up the slow-flowing river course. Five fishing permits are sold per day in the Brya zone.

More stationary and harder to catch

Grimsa has some of the most beautiful surroundings of all the rivers we know.

The fish in Grimsa in Grimsdalen stay more in the same places in the river than those in Brya, and they do not become easier to catch for that reason. Both grayling and trout here test both flies and fly fishermen to the utmost. Remember to behave carefully by the river. It may seem as if the trout have eyes in the back of their heads in Grimsdalen ...

The valley is one of the most beautiful we have. The cultural landscape and the characteristic mountains in Rondane send you straight into the fairy tales.
