Lora ­and ­Lågen ­in ­Lesja

Gudbrandsdalslågen and Lora offers exciting fishing. During good conditions you can easily see the fish. The fishing is easily accessible, and there are two separate fly-fishing only sections which together are make up roughly 9 km of river.

Fishing License

Only day and week licenses are sold for the fly fishing zones. The license for the fly fishing zone is also valid in the middle zone. The entire zone 7 is exceptional for fly fishing.

The general license for zone 7 does not include the fly fishing zones, and only allows for fishing outside these zones. Her you can purchase either day, week or season licenses.

Fishing licenses can be purchase online or at Joker Lesja.

Gudbrandsdalslågen and Lora offers exciting fishing. During good conditions you can easily see the fish. The fishing is easily accessible, and there are two separate fly-fishing only sections which together are make up roughly 9 km of river.

Gudbrandsdalslågen has it’s source from the lake Lesjaskogsvatnet, and begins as a small weaving through the forest as it makes its way towards the confluence with the River Lora. Further downstream the river runs through the town of Lesja. The river here is known for being crystal clear with the perfect flow for dry fly fishing. During the right conditions you can easily spot the fish, making it perfect for targeting trout and grayling on the fly. Here there is plenty of access to the river with several bridges.

Zone 7 includes River Gudbrandsdalslågen extending from the outlet of Skråkka roughly 7 km downstream from Lesjaskogsvatnet, and River Lora from the confluence with Gudbrandsdalslågen upstream to the border with public lands. The lower border is the border of Dovre Commune.

This zone has become more and more popular due to the crystal clear water and sandy bottom. Large portions of the river are easily accessible and easy to wade. Zone 7 is divided into 3 sections, the upper fly fishing zone (6 km), the middle zone (19 km, all tackle) and the lower fly fishing zone (3 km).

Only day and week licenses are sold for the fly fishing zones. The license for the fly fishing zone is also valid in the middle zone. The entire zone 7 is exceptional for fly fishing.

For Lågen zone 7 Lesja you can either purchase a day license, week license, or a season license. The season license is not valid in the fly fishing zones.

Fishing regulations

General rules zone 7 (Lesja):

  • Fishing Season: May 21st to September 9th.
  • The fishing license is only valid for traditional tackle including worms, lures and flies.
  • The license is personal and non transferrable.
  • Bag limit for zone 7 Lesja: Each angler may keep 1 fish over 35 cm per day.
  • Anglers are responsible to measure the fish. If in doubt, the fish must be released.
  • Children under 18 years old may fish for free.
  • Failure to follow the regulations can lead to reporting and arrest.

  • Fly fishing only includes fishing where the line allows the casting weight.
  • Barbless hooks only.
  • Fishing licenses are personal and non transferrable.
  • Bag limit: Each angler may keep 2 fish per day under 35 cm. All trout over 35 cm must be released.
  • Anglers are responsible to measure the fish. If in doubt, the fish must be released.
  • Children under 18 years old may fish for free.
  • Failure to follow the regulations can lead to reporting and arrest.

Show respect for farmland. Go around the edge of the farmed property along the marked trails.
