Ready for a mountain adventure? In The Tydal Mountains you are only a high pressure system away from excellent fly fishing for rising trout and char.

Despite a lot of bad weather – local sources in the Tydal region can tell of good catches and big fish in good condition. The weather has put a damper on the fishing pressure in large areas, but those who have made the trip and caught a glimpse of something resembling summer have rarely regretted it.

Char in high alpine lakes in The Tydal Mountains can grow to epic proportions, and are usually active through the summer, as long as the water temperature does not rise too high. It does not seem to be a great risk for that with this “summers” weather … Photo: Cato Bekkevold.

Local fishermen can report catches of trout up to four kilos, and several large char. The high alpine lakes can explode in activity when the temperature rises.

Some of hose who have been able to travel into the mountains at short notice between the bouts of gale force winds and horizontal rain have been rewarded by fish so big that you don’t need to keep your arms straight for the pictures …
