It is time for a new “Tight with Fishspot” update. This time we overlap with some activity from current week as well. Why? Well, something most fly fishermen all year is happening: The hatches of the Big mayflies Ephemera Vulgata and Ephemera Danica has started!

At Gjerfloen Fly Fishing in Trysil, owner Snorre Grønnæss can report that hatches of Danica has begun. It is also observed elsewhere in Trysil river, almost 3 weeks earlier than usual, says Espen Eilertsen.

For some great tips on how to present this fly and get in touch with fish feeding on them, we recommend Kjell Rakkenes`fishing blog Rakkenes.com. He has made a great article based on his experience on fishing the Danica.

From Engerdal, our local friend Jan Lillestu can tell that Vulgata is hatching. If you encounter this, a truly awesome fishing experience are within reach. There are usually big fish who use this resource. The question is – Do you?

Jake Semons from Rugged Creek Fly Fishing visited Rena river and the lake Løpsjøen in Åmot. The fishing for both trout, grayling and pike was quite good to him. He has also composed a film from his pike fish in Lake Løpsjøen, a river dam reknown for its stock of pike. See the movie at the top of this article.

As one can see Jake got some really nice trout and grayling on his trip. Fishing with streamers works fine if the insects are sparse.

Rendalen Elvelag reports that the Unsetåa river is well situated now. Stable water temperatures around 15 degrees, but with a little cooler weather ahead, the fishing conditions in the comming days are looking good.
