Cabins at Romenstad

Experience Norwegian nature in Rendalen with a stay at Romenstad Farm.  Three generations of Romenstad will welcome you to the farm for a holiday out of the ordinary.  You can rent cabins of various standards with in atmospheric environments on the farm courtyard. Romenstad has been awarded the Norwegian Cultural Heritage quality mark “Olavs Rose”.

The Romenstad hosts convey the tradition and history of the farm, through experiences, storytelling, buildings and food. The farm is lively with farm animals where cows, calves, chickens, sheep, rabbits, dogs and a cat thrive.

Grand nature

Rendalen offers a peaceful and varied habitat perfectly suited for an active outdoors-life. Here you can encounter reindeer, moose, beaver and other wild animals on your peaceful hike down river.  You can venture on hiking trips on marked trails in a very family friendly terrain through forests and mountains.

The farm have canoes for rent that kan take you into the near by area. Gliding silently over quaint waters, will let you much closer to nature, and with a strange distanse to you normal life.  On the farm your family can relax and tend to the animals, feed them and herd them to the grass plains.

Hiking on the cultural trail one can get a glimpse of life in the ancient days with old animal pit traps, and other trap installations and how they ware used. Its a wintess to how the high activity it was here – hundreds of years ago. There is an open cafe on Søvollen mountain farm every Sunday in July. Other than that, catering or meals can be arranged for guests or for hiking.

Romendstad Cabins cooperates with other companies that offers activities in the near by areas, and we can help you with facilitating trips of grand nature in Rendalen. Maybe horse back riding with Rendalen mountain riding sound tempting? The farm is a good starting point for excursions Røros, a world heritage town, or to the Forest Museum in Elverum, or other sites like Jutulhogget, Bull museum and Fiskevollen.

The fishing

As a holiday guest at Romenstad Cabins there are numerous options for fishing.  Unsetåa is the closest river to the farm and it offers good fishing for grayling and trout. The river also sports a fly-fishing zone. There are many fishing opportunities within short distance of the farm.  Northern Mistra, Glomma, Renaelva, Spekedalen and Sølensjøen, are all well known destinations that offers fishing of all styles. Accommodation

Romenstad Cabins offers a selection of traditional lumber lodges and cabins here in the farm, and on the mountain farm (Seter) Søvollen. These are facilitated for self catering, or food can be ordered with us here at Romenstad.

“Barfrøstua”

One of the lodges is “Buloftet” (the oldest from the 1800’s) and the rare “Barfrøstua” with room for 4 and five people. The mountain farm Seterstua on setervollen have room for seven people, “Misterhytta” with room for nine, “Seterbo” with room for four, and “Veslebua” with room for three.
