Borgen – Where Hamsun wrote in Sollia

Marie and Knut Hamsun lived at Nordre Brænd in Sollia as newlyweds from the summer of 1909 to 1910. Here he worked on the novel “The wanderer” and the play “In the grip of life”. Borgen was his place of refuge, and nobody was allowed in. Not even his wife Marie. He needed complete peace while he wrote.
However, we believe Borgen should be shared! Here you will find two proper beds, one smaller bed, and a loft for slightly older children.
“Aye, here’s better than Paris! 2-3 thousand feet, God is my neighbor”. Letter October 10, 1909.
Only Lake Atnsjøen lies between the farm and the Rondane mountain range, and the potential for hiking is endless. You can bring the whole family along on shorter hikes, or hike to one of the peaks in Rondane or Alvdal Vestfjell.
We have boats available for rent, fishing licenses for sale on the farm, and if you contact us in advance we can even arrange fishing guides. Many miles of river and loads of both small and large lakes are included under one fishing license. We are also helpful in arranging freezing of fish and game.Other offers in Stor-Elvdal
