Go wild in Femunden National Park

Are you yearning for solitude, silence, firey sunrises, and maybe some first-class fishing? Femunden National Park is the place to be this summer.

Femunden National Park has become well known among many who enjoy true wilderness and pristine surroundings, through TV programs and books from, among others the Norwegian explorer and adventurer, Lars Monsen.

The National Park has many unique nature types, crooked pines and rich wildlife. In addition, fishing in the national park is rich and varied. The river Røa is popular among fishermen and adventurers alike, but if you leave the main paths you are usually all alone.

The largest trout that swim here are as long as the arm of an adult man – or longer. Char and grayling also come in size XL, but that does not mean that big fish are easy to fool. You need to be in the right place at the right time.

Femundsmarka is a mountain hiker’s paradise where you have large areas to frolic in. In the national park there are a number of old huts and hovels that are open to visitors in the mountains. Walking between huts is a great way to experience the area.

Quiet secluded forest lakes, mountains and plateaus in beautiful union. Some fishing opportunities you have to walk far to reach, others are close and are more easily accessible. What they have in common though, is is that you get to experience the rush of wilderness. The silence, the wildlife, the sounds and the light.

Femundsmarka is accessible with the scheduled boat Femund II, by canoe from Femund or from the Swedish side of the border.
