The Engerdal and Femundsmarka National Park is truly an Eldorado for fishermen who appreciate hiking in vast areas with countless rivers and streams. It can seem a bit daunting how to enter this large area, but in this film, we show you the three best ways to go about it.

If you are an experienced outdoorsman, tackling expeditions here and camping in nature is no problem. However, if you wold like to stay in the comforts of a cabin or lodge, there are numerous options for accommodation. The area also offers an array of waters and streams outside of the National Park, and with access from the road or short walks. And bare in mind that the fishing in these waters are just as good as the water many people spend ours hiking to inside the National Park.

We wold recommend people staying more than 5 days to really enjoy this area, and especially if you are planning on longer hikes into the national park. One can also stay in one of the many lodges and cabins in the area such as Johsgård Tourist Center, or Galten Lodge . These are really good expedition base camps for shorter excursions in areas outside the National Park.

The area
Engerdal County has over 900 lakes, ponds, creeks, and rivers and streams for the angler to choose from. This area is well known for its beautiful landscapes and more importantly for its excellent fishing. You will be hard-pressed to find a better and more varied fishing license in Norway than what Engerdal has to offer, as this fishing license is valid in the entire county with only a few exceptions.

Landscape
The landscape here sets the frame for an experience that will be hard to beat. The view to landmarks such as Femunden and Sølentoppen as well as Femundsmarkas distinctive crooked pine trees, moraine ridges, and uncountable lakes and ponds make Engerdal a destination in and of itself.

Fishing in Engerdal offers varied waterways that are home to big trout, char, grayling, pike, perch, whitefish, and big burbot. Fishing here The fishing here has everything you could imagine, from wilderness fishing far from the beaten track in Femundsmarka to easily accessible fishing areas for those with trouble getting around.

Come and experience the fishing in Engerdal!
