STOR ørret fra Femundsmarka

Outback fishing in Femundsmarka can put you on a lake that holds trout of monstrous proportions. This fish has been caught from the bank on rod and lure.

Even though this trout of the ordinary, local supervisor Tore Stengrundet says it’s not unheard of and the fish in these waters grow astonishingly fast. Together with the leader of the Engerdal Fjellstyre (mountain board) Morten Aas , they went on their annual spring trip in the Femundsmarka outback fishing areas.

It’s a late spring and the mountains are still covered in snow above 1200 meter above sea level.  Down in the valley the birch has just grown what we call mouse ears (tiny leafs).

Superlocal
They encountered some rises on waters they passed along the way, mostly char hunting midge. The first mayfly hatches was seen on the lower waters in Femundsmarka. Rising fish or not, these guys know this land as the back of their hand and they know where to throw their line. T0re landed the fish, and as you can tell the fish is in peak condition, obviously having an abundance of food available.

The pictures below is taken on the same trip and it show what beautiful scenery and wildlife the outback fishing trips might bring you.
