The Fishing

Lakselva is renowned for its large salmon, and is located at the very top of Norway, ranking along with Altaelva in terms of size and numbers of salmon. This river fishes at its’ best from mid-summer to the closing date in August. Lakselva is extremely popular internationally. Stuenes lodge can offer some of the very best fishing found in Lakselva. If desired they can also provide guides, this can be arranged upon booking for an additional price. All of the beats are ideal for fly fishing. Your stay at Stuenes Lodge includes fishing on the following stretches of Lakselva:

Stuenes Homepool:

This pool lies right outside of Stuenes Lodge. The Homepool is an excellent beat with an even current, which delivers salmon every season. The pool has a shoreline of roughly 250 meters.

Skjørtenes North:

Skjørtenes North lies roughly in the middle of zone 1. The Skjørtenes North beat consists of one relatively deep slow flowing pool, followed by a long outer bend. Running salmon tend to stop here. This beat has a shoreline of roughly 500 meters.

Skjørtenes South:

Skjørtenes South consists of the main pool on the Skjørtenes beat. Salmon love to stop here. The beat has a shoreline of roughly 400 meters.

Niittykuru & Sammunsari:

Niittykuru is a relatively long slow flowing stretch, but the flows are ideal for fly fishing. Here both sides of the river are included in the beat, in as such as you will not see anglers on the far bank. Running salmon tend to spend some time in this pool. Here it is easy to wade and easy to cast. This stretch can be fished from both sides. Sammunsari is the name of the pool at the bottom of the beat. Downstream from the island is a well-known spot that often holds fish. In this section the salmon have a tendency to jump and show themselves. Including both sides of the river, this beat has a shoreline of over 800 meters.

Holmen Bridge:

Down stream from the Holmen Bridge is a deep pool with a tail out on the side of the river. This is not a very long stretch, but the salmon like to stop here. This beat is set up together with Skjørtenes South. This beat consists of just under 100 meters of fishable shoreline.

Soldatholmen East:

Soldatholmen lies in zone 2. The island or “islands” as the name implies, is a large island that splits the river in two. The river is fishable on both the east and the west side of the island. The Soldatholmen East beat allows for fishing on the east side of the island. This stretch has a shoreline of roughly 700 meters. A bridge leads to the island from Stuenes Lodge.

Soldatholmen West:

Soldatholmen lies in zone 2. The island or “islands” as the name implies, is a large island that splits the river in two. The river is fishable on both the east and the west side of the island.
