Sel Mountain Board
The Sel Mountain Board sells fishing licenses for the Sel and Northern Kolloen Statsallmenning area. The mountain board has the fishing rights for 39 lakes, 2 rivers and several smaller streams. Trout, perch and char of excellent quality.
These common grounds are on comparatively high elevation. We can’t advertise with trout of several kilograms, although this sometimes occurs in a few waters. But even if a large size is often absent, this is usually not the case with the amount of fish. Catches are often large in number of fish, and the fish are of very good quality. Most lakes are great family waters, where it neither requires much effort or expertise to get results.
For families staying close to Mysuseter we recommend Lake Ranglartjern South East of Ranglarhø. This is a fishing lake with good stocks of perch and some big trout. The water is sheltered from the weather, with places to camp and to make a bonfire. Ranglartjern is suitable for a family outing both summer and winter.
Inside the national park, close to Rondvassbu there is the Illmanndalen valley, with seven or eight lakes like lying as pearls on a string. These small lakes are partially populated by trout. The waters are stocked, so opportunities to take nice fish are certainly there. Char is also willing to bite, so more and more families make a trip to these lakes for fishing.
The Høvringen / Kampen area also has an excellent fishing lake for a family trip. This water is called Søndre Høvringsvann, it is located midway between Smuksjøseter and Kampen, not far from the Per Gynt cabin. It holds mainly char, but there is also some trout. Trout over a kilo have been taken with rod in this mountain lake. Great for a day trip from Smuksjøseter or Kampen.
