Hesstjønna Fly Fishing Zone
Hesstjønna is a small shallow lake situated high in the forests of Sel Kommune. This lake offers exciting fishing for fiesty mountain trout at the foot of the majestic Rondane mountains.
The fly fishing only license for Hesstjønna is exlusive, and is offered through Sel- og Nordre Kolloen Statsallmenning.
The Sel Mountain Board manages Sel- og Nordre Kolloen Statsallmenning. There is also a license available for the entire area they manage. Here you will find everything from family freindly lakes, to lakes geared to the more advanced fly fisherman. The area is easily accessible, with everything from roadside fishing to more exclusive lakes at the end of a 1-2 hour hike.
In the southern parts of this area you will primarily find trout, with a few exceptions. The area consists primarily of forest, but some of the lakes are located above the treeline. Trout, char, and perch are the species you will find. Each year there are fish caught from 1-2 kilos in several of the lakes here. Ranglartjern is the only lake with perch, and here you will find a shelter with a fireplace. Up higher on the treeless mountains you will primarily find lakes with both trout and char, meaning there are plenty of options to choose from.
