The Hola river is an interesting river that you should have a look at. It’s a part of a fishing license area in with you will also find places like lake Langsjøen and other fishing that caters to everyone. The river is well suited for both fly-, light spin- and worm fishing. Some parts the grayling is most prolific, and some slow flowing areas contains both parch and pike. In Langsjøen lake you will find species such as trout, pike, perch, grayling and whitefish.

The river also have its own fly fishing zone where you will find the river varying from riffling water to meandering calm sections. This is great habitat for aquatic insect life, something the grayling are on to. We did a short days fishing, and we did not regret it.

We got excited from the get-go, when we saw the possibility of  that those big Langsjøen trout had gone up the river, as we saw some big fish move. A mouse pattern was presented, and it was sucked down at first cast. The line tightens and snaps immediately, as it was a pike and no trout that had taken the furry imitation.

Later on we observe som careful and gentle rises that appears to be small fish, but we give it a go. And a few different fly patterns and som early strikes later, a grayling of about one kilo in the net, tells us that small rises cane be made by big fish.

It turned out to be a nice day at the river in Øversjødalen valley. We recommend you give this river a swing,
