Explosive and varied fishing in Hodalen

Us Norwegians tend to forget that there are other fish than just trout. Norway is a hotspot for pike, grayling and whitefish, and one destination where you can target all three of these species is Hodalssjøene.

Us Norwegians tend to forget that there are other fish than just trout. Norway is a hotspot for pike, grayling and whitefish, and one destination where you can target all three of these species is Hodalssjøene (Hodals lakes), where you will also of course find big trout.

Big grayling on the fly isn’t something you see every day. Even if you manage to find them they can be incredibly picky and difficult to catch. Therefore they sit high on the list for many anglers. Photo: Bernd Ziesche

Hodalssjøene are a chain of mountain lakes that are easily accessible with a wide range of targetable species.

Between several of the lakes you’ll find exciting streams and creeks. Situated between incredible surroundings, this is a hidden gem for those who appreciate beautiful scenery and a rich wildlife.

You’ll not see many other anglers up here, and after seeing these photos we can quite understand why… Bernd at least looks like he has enjoyed himself.

If you find yourself in the Tolga area then Hodalen is worth a detour!
